Descend into the forge, learn new words of destruction, and temper the GOD orb seven times to unlock its power.
SAD GOD is a platformer-shooter-roguelike. Journey down into a pit filled with monsters and traps. Gain strength from coins and new weapons from altars. Then race to the surface before the lava gets you.
CONTROLS
- Move: A, D, cursor keys
- Fire / Shoot / Jump: Space, Z, X
- Screenshot: Ctrl+P
Gamepad also supported.
MODES
- Normal: Casual mode, allows you to keep trying a level when you die.
- Hardcore: Complete all 8 levels without dying.
- Plus Modes: Complete Normal and Hardcore to unlock new difficulty levels.
- Demo: First 5 levels of Normal only.
MANIFESTO
- Short: Each level should not take more than a few minutes to play.
- RPG: Hard choices that result in a "build" at the end of a run.
- Non modal: No menus, no pick 1 of 3 cards.
- High variance: Lots of monsters, shot types, terrain.

This project is built using Godot 4.
SAD GOD is in early access. Content complete, but adding more content and polish anyway.

Do you have any plans to port it to androïd ? That's the type of game which would be nice to play on the go
Not at this time.
Making the game portrait requires rebuilding the UI, and changing much of how the game works to compensate for more of the level being active and interactable.
I may experiment with a landscape only port to see how Godot makes mobile apps.
Really cool, but I wonder, why not lean more into your twist (go down, platforms break, then climb) and let go of the downwell downwards shot?
Unfortunately I would have to rewrite all mechanics that react to bullets (which is all of them), effectively making an entirely new game.
I'm not against making a new game, but I feel like I should finish up here or at least make something small that isn't a platformer.
oh of course I mean, I wasn't asking why not redo half the game XD but more like, what made you stick to that same idea, as I think this game could stand on its own without it

the new update adds a lot of challenge. I've had this come up a couple times and can't get past it.

Alternating playing with my nephew, really fun. We die a lot though ;p
